How do you make a smoky old fashioned?
A smoky old fashioned seems like one of the easier twists on the classic old fashioned cocktail recipe, but in my mind, it can also be easy to make mistakes with this cocktail!
Choosing a whiskey or a whisky that is too smoky might create an unbalanced drink, while choosing one without enough depth of flavour will create a drink that doesn't wow!
In this recipe, I've used Teeling's Blackpitts whiskey, which spent some time in Sauternes wine casks, giving it a lot of sweet flavour as well as a nice smoky base.
So let me show you how to make a smoky old fashioned!
