Srimanta Sankardeva ( 1449-1569) was a popular Vaishnava Saint in Assam. A Vaishnava Saint , Sankardev spread the message of Vedanta and Samikhya Philosophy. He used the teaching in Srimad Bhagavata Purana to clarify the doubts of the people who are drawn to numerous other philosophy. Srimanata Sankardeva wrote several devotional songs like Bhagwat Bhakti Ratnakar, Bhakti Pradeep and numerous other literatures including one act plays. The most important holy text of the sect founded by Sankardeva is the Srimad Bhagvad Purana.
On occassion of his death Tithi , the students of Modern High School( Sr.Sec), Geetanagar had beautifully rendered a virtual tribute to this great soul.

MODERN HIGH SCHOOL is a Co-educational Englsih Medium High School under the aegis of Modern Educational Society (Govt. Registered) under the Society Registration Act 1860. The School has classes form Preparatory to std XII and is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi.

The School was established in 1985 under the able leadership of Mrs. M. Sarkar. She is also the founder Principal. The school is 36 years young today.
