Speaker Nancy Pelosi Vows to Pass Bill Guaranteeing Access to Abortions | EWTN News Nightly

The Supreme Court's recent decision upholding a Texas pro-life law has Capitol Hill lawmakers speaking out. Within hours of the Supreme Court's 5-4 decision, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Catholic, released a statement condemning the ruling. She said, "The Court's cowardly decision to uphold a flagrantly unconstitutional assault on women's rights and health is staggering. The House will bring up Congresswoman Judy Chu's Women's Health Protection Act.... to enshrine into law reproductive health care for all women across America." Pro-life Republicans are not holding back from criticizing the speaker. Representative Kat Cammack says "Really what it is, it's a pro-abortion wish list of any and all things that they could ever want. Really effectively stripping states of their 10th amendment right to make laws." On the Senate side, Minnesota Democrat Amy Klobuchar believes the filibuster should be abolished to protect access to abortion. And Catholic Church leaders are also speaking out, with Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco stating, "I find it especially disturbing that so many of the politicians on the wrong side of the preeminent human rights issue of our time, are self-professed Catholics."
