Storm Tracker Forecast - Hotter Tuesday With Weather Changes Coming
Published at : September 14, 2021
Clear sky continues above the haze and smoke of northern California, and Tuesday will be hotter than today. Just as it looked last week, a change to our weather pattern is ahead, and that will last through this weekend. A ridge of high pressure is currently moving over California, and it kept our weather fairly quiet on this first day of the new week. Tonight will be quiet and clear, but more smoke and haze will linger overhead with no strong wind to push it away. Lows will range from the 30s and 40s in the mountains to the 50s and 60s in the foothills and valley. Tuesday will be sunny and hotter, but smoke and haze will still pollute the sky for many. Daytime highs will range from the 80s in the mountains to near 100 in the valley.
The ridge which brought quiet weather will be broken down slowly but surely by a trough of low pressure from Wednesday through Friday. Highs will begin to decrease to more seasonable levels, and the wind will start blowing in the mountains by Thursday and Friday. A deeper, more energetic trough of low pressure will then push over the West Coast this weekend. It will be more rapid cooling, stronger wind, and a chance of light rain and thunderstorms, mainly in the mountains. The trough will pass and our weather will quiet by next Monday. Valley lows will fall from the 60s to the 50s by this weekend, while valley highs will fall from near 100 Tuesday to the upper 70s and lower 80s this weekend before warming a bit Monday.
