So normally people like to say you get your newbie gains within your first year or 2 into lifting. This is false. Newbie gains are a measure of how far you are away from your genetic limit. The further you are away from your genetic limit the easier it will be to gain muscle. This is why some people are able to experience massive gains within their first year into lifting because factors such as their training and nutrition were really good from the get-go. You can still experience newbie gains years into lifting as long as you aren't close to your genetic limit.
