Welcome back - thank you for all the great comments on the last video. I'm thrilled to see how excited people are about coins at the moment.

In the last video, we went through several rare and valuable coins and coin errors to keep an eye out for in circulation. This
video
is about where to look for coins. As I'm sure you're aware, Australia Post recently held their second coin hunt, with 26 new alphabet coins to collect. And then Woolworths have the Olympics set with 6 new coins. I've been amazed at how many people are out hunting for these coins. It's always awesome to see how popular coin collecting is.

I think they've done a great job with these new coins. My favourite alphabet coin is the emu, it cracks me up - this fellow's got attitude.

But how awesome is this - there have been tonnes of people sharing posts about the new coins - people are really excited about coin collecting. Thank you for Your support in sharing and commenting on these posts to get the word out about the new coins.

It confirms that despite all this talk about cashless society and tap n go, when interesting coins are there to be found, people get excited.

So if you're a coin collector, you're in the right place!
Now
while it can feel like places to find coins are drying up, there are still lots of great places to check. It's like a treasure hunt, and that makes this video your treasure map - these are my top 5 places to look for coins.

1. The Bank.
The bank is probably the most obvious place to start - while some banks make it easier than others, there are a lot of banks with coin machines that let you withdraw and deposit coins en masse. This could be in rolls or in bags. You may even be able to ask the teller staff to put interesting coins aside for you.
Some
banks may have daily limits or require an ABN if you want to deposit or withdraw coins. But different banks have different policies. But believe it or not, some banks will even let you order coins in. 2 - Retail coin promotions.
The easiest way to find new coins is when there is a retail promotion, like the Alphabet sets from Australia Post and also Woolworths, who often release small series of coins.
Woolworths
usually have one or two of these promotions per year. So long as you pay in cash, you can get access to the new coins. Keep an eye on my Facebook page for details of when these promotions are happening.

3. Shops with cash transactions.
Speaking of retail, do you pay cash when you get food or groceries? Obviously, this could be a huge range of places. Make sure to check with the people who you buy coffee, lunch or dinner from. If you're a friendly regular customer, they're likely to help you out by putting interesting coins aside for you.

4. Coin machines.
It's not that common for people to carry much cash any more - we're being encouraged to use tap n go.

But there are still things we need cash for, and as a result, there are still change machines around the place. One of the most prominent places for cash machines is in the supermarkets - if you pay in cash, the machine has to give you your change in cash. Some may even let you withdraw cash through the checkout machines.

5. Around Home.
It
may seem obvious, but a great place to check for coins is around the house. There are places that we can lose coins out of our pockets, like sofas. There's also places we hide coins like pencil cases, piggy banks and even in the car. If you have a sports club, or a workplace, check there too. Check sports bags, backpacks, suitcases - any bags that you might have put coins in.
So
in summary, check:1 Banks,2 Retail Coin Promotions,3 Shops That Take Cash,4 Coin Machines, and 5 Around Home. Now this is just a starting point of places to look for coins - there are still lots of coins out there, and the recent coin releases confirm that there are lots of people excited about coin collecting.
So
