Newcastle fans awaited with bated breath news of a possible takeover of the club's ownership.

The Saudi-backed takeover of Newcastle is set to be pushed through on Thursday after a long-standing row over TV piracy was resolved.

News of a potential breakthrough in a saga which has been ongoing since April last year arrived when it emerged Saudi Arabia had indicated it would lift its ban on broadcaster beIN SPORTS.

“It’s not so much about the Saudis coming in, it’s more about Ashley leaving. You don’t see Newcastle kits in the playground anymore. It’s nice to have hope, the last 24 hours are more exciting than anything we’ve had the last decade.”, a fan said.
