Extreme Cold Vs Extreme Heat बताओ कौन जीतेगा | Who Will Win ?
We are talking producing work from heat, we depend on a temperature difference. A gross summary would be that work can be done based on the difference in temperatures of a source of heat and a sink for it. The source is hot, and the sink is cold. Relatively.
Cold and hot act in opposite directions in terms of producing available work. If we increase the temperature of the source, while keeping the sink at a constant temperature, we will increase the available work.
Increasing the temperature of the sink has the opposite effect. It is reducing the temperature of the sink that will increase the available work.
Stronger means the capacity to produce a larger effect.
Both cold and hot have limits in one direction. That is, it is only possible to get so cold, that temperature is zero Kelvin (about -273 degrees C., or about -460 degrees F). We could talk about what "temperature" means, but I'll set that aside for now. So there is a limit to how far cold can go, but no limit to how hot something can become. So from this point of view, we might consider hot to be stronger.
However, there is another way to look at this. Cold and hot are not equally available. If I'm stronger, potentially, but only if I have Unobtainium in my diet, I am not stronger.
Absolute zero is actually available, the sink is readily accessible. Straight up. Have you ever noticed that if feels much colder on a winter night, if there is no cloud cover, if the sky is clear? That's because the cloud cover is like a blanket, it reflects heat back toward the surface where we live. The temperature straight up on a clear night is something like absolute zero.
So you can run a heat engine with some power source and the sky as the sink. The sun is a heat engine pouring energy into that sink. And that sink is vast, it is essentially the entire universe. In the end, it will "win" this arm-wrestle. The average temperature of the universe will remain the same, just a tad above absolute zero, with all the concentrated energy sources running down.
So, from this point of view, cold is stronger. That vast cold stays almost as cold.
