Japan plans to gradually ease COVID-19 border restrictions
Published at : November 06, 2021
Japan has confirmed plans to gradually ease COVID-19 border curbs. It will take a phased approach, starting with reducing quarantine periods for business travellers. The easing could start as early as Nov 8, but business groups have said Tokyo is taking things too slow, adding that reopening borders is necessary to jumpstart Japan's economic recovery. The details are expected to be decided after Prime Minister Fumio Kishida returns from the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow, where he is on his first overseas mission since taking office. Currently, Japan limits entry to 3,500 non-residents a day.
