A few of the typical arguments that will probably come up once this clip hits the general Instagram population...
"This is just for beginners and anything that encourages people to exercise is good"
True, but if someone has made the decision to invest their time and effort into exercising... why not do something that actually, you know, works?
Even if you don't have access to weights, there are a million basic body weight based movements available that will produce exponentially better results than just flapping your arms around in the air and that are perfectly suitable for newbies.
"This isn't meant for bulking up, it's for toning"
You can't spot reduce fat, so the purpose of any direct exercise for a given body part (from an aesthetics standpoint) is to stimulate muscle growth, period.
Fat loss happens on a whole body scale as you maintain a calorie deficit, but you have no control over where the fat is specifically pulled from at any given time.
So, there is no such thing as a "toning" exercise in the way most people define it.
If these workouts were simply promoted as "here are some nifty maneuvers you can try if flapping your arms around in the air is fun for you", then sure, no argument from me.
However, they're specifically promoted for "toning", "slimming", "sculpting" etc, and that is just straight up misleading and gives people false expectations while wasting their time.
"Look at her arms, clearly it's working for her"
She's also a former physique competitor and has videos featuring regular free weight exercises, so it doesn't mean that the arm flapping was directly responsible for her results.
"Oh look, another mysoginistic gym bro who likes to attack women"
99% of the critique style videos I've done have featured men, so no, that doesn't work.
In fact, these Blogilates arm flapping videos are literally the only thing I've ever reacted to that features a female.
