LGBT+ fans will be ‘constantly on edge’ if they attend Qatar World Cup, fan group boss says

With the Qatar World Cup just months away, The Independent spoke with Joe White (Three Lions Pride) to address the concerns around LGBT+ fans’ access to the tournament.
Being LGBT+ is illegal in Qatar, with Joe saying that was a “big concern” for anybody considering travelling to the tournament, with others not wanting to “put money into a state that criminalises our existence”.
Joe also compared their experiences in Russia, before discussing the “mental toll” that “going back into the closet” would take on travelling fans.
