Recently a huge aquarium in Berlin ruptured, killing 1500 fish and making headlines all over the world. Most reports haven't gone into detail, and even got some of the details wrong; in this video I try to fill in a few of the missing details and give you a better understand of what happened.

Watch the Slow Mo Guys' @theslowmoguys video here:

Chapters:
00:00 Introduction
01:01 About the aquarium
02:44 The Sea Life exhibition
03:42 The incident
05:27 The aftermath
06:08 Theories about the cause
07:45 Who's responsible?

For those worried about what happened in the closing credits: nothing broke. There is a skylight just above my head, and because it doesn't have a blind I can close I block the light while filming by jamming a couple of insulating panels cut to an exact size in the frame. The cold weather must have caused the window frame to contract slightly, and just as I was recording that final bit one of the panels fell out. It's made of a lightweight material so there was never any danger of injury or damage. But it was quite fitting for this video, and I couldn't have scripted it better if I'd tried.
